Why You Should Not Handle Your Injury Claim On Your Own

Often potential clients or just random people who were injured ask me “Why do I need a personal injury lawyer?   I can handle this on my own.”  Let me give you some reasons why you should not handle your injury claim on your own.  First, despite how friendly the adjuster for the insurance company may seem, they’re not your friend.  Insurance companies are in business to make money, and will always try and settle a claim earlier and cheaper.  Prior to my life as a lawyer I was an insurance adjuster and I always preferred handling claims of unrepresented claimants. It typically meant quicker settlement and moving the file off my desk.  To an adjuster the claimant is just a file, not a person.  Second, handling an injury claim is time consuming and only adds stress to an already stressful situation.  Third, an attorney has experience and knowledge that an individual does not as it relates to the claims and legal process.   Lastly if you hire an attorney it is someone you have met with and trust to represent your interest.

These are just a few reasons why you should not handle your injury claim on your  own.
