There Was A Foreign Body In Food, Now What?

Surprisingly, (or not) thousands of individuals are injured every year due to a foreign body in food.  That foreign body could range from anything from glass, rocks, metal rivets, packaging materials, human hair, and even insects.  If a patron of a restaurant suffers a physical harm from biting or consuming a foreign body in food, that individual could have a claim to recover damages for pain and suffering, medical bills, and loss of income.  In some instances there could be situations that person could recover for the anxiety and emotional distress of discovering what they may have ate.  Foreign object food cases are quite shocking regarding the extra items in the food.

If you happen to have the unfortunate event of finding a foreign object in your food, here are some tips to remember: (1) notify the establishment immediately, at a minimum may prevent other incidents; (2) keep the item or at a minimum use your cell phone to take a picture of it; and (3) insist on completing an incident report and make sure you get a copy of the report.
