Injured In A Car Accident?

A car accident can range in severity from a minor bumper scratch to total loss that leaves the injured party without a vehicle and suffering from serious injuries.  Even the slightest of rear end impacts may seem insignificant but could result in serious injuries.  The most common injury a driver will sustain is what is more commonly referred to as  “whiplash”, which is an injury to the soft tissue in the neck and upper back area.  Sometimes injuries to the neck and back region could be more severe; such as a torn or ruptured disc.

Rear end collisions can also cause a mild concussion or traumatic brain injury, essentially the force of the impact causes the brain to move back and forth in the skull, causing bruising to the brain tissue.

Regardless of the nature and extent of injuries, anyone who is injured in an accident should first seek the appropriate medical services, whether that person visits the emergency room, their primary care physician, a chiropractor or some other healthcare provider.

The next is to protect your legal rights, if you were injured in an accident that was caused by another person, most likely you will be contacted by their insurance carrier, who will try to settle with you quickly and cheaply.   As you are aware, insurance companies don’t voluntarily pay any more than they have to, and they won’t help to protect your interests.  At a minimum before accepting any settlement offer from an insurance company at least consult an experienced injury lawyer most will provide a free case evaluation.
